The opening round of the 2016 Billabong Pipe Masters, the last stop of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, was held in tough conditions at the Banzai Pipeline, but the cream of the crop rose to the top. John John Florence, Kelly Slater, Gabriel Medina were among the stars to progress through to Round 3.
The Women's Pipe Invitational also took place with Australian Stephanie Gilmore taking the honors over Tyler Wright (AUS) and Carissa Moore (HAW).
