Release Gluteus Medius and Quadratus Tension - The gluteus medius is active throughout the entire gait cycle. It is also important in supporting the lower extremity during the mid-stance phase of gait. Gluteus medius trigger points can refer pain into the low back at the beltline, the sacrum, the buttocks, the outside hip, in addition the posterior upper thigh.
The Quadratus Lumborum (QL) primary functions are lateral flexion, extension, and stabilization of the trunk and lumbar spine. Trigger points in the QL often refer along the crest and occasionally the lower quadrant of the abdomen. It can also refer to the outer upper aspect of the groin. Referred pain from the QL can result in a misdiagnosis of trochanteric bursitis.
