Opening a CSV file in Excel in the normal way will cause you to loose leading zeros on numbers. This can destroy the integrity of data such as zip codes, invoice numbers, part numbers, employee IDs, etc. But you can easily work around this problem by renaming the file to a .TXT file and using the Text Import Wizard to format columns as text.
