In 1940s Preston Sturges was amongst the most successful writer-director in Hollywood. Over the course of just 10 movies, he crafted a unique dialogue style. His films, such as the Lady Eve and Sullivan's Travels, are both highly original and very funny. Although he is largely forgotten, his writing influenced a whole host of modern filmmakers, including Wes Anderson, Aaron Sorkin and; Joel and Ethan Coen.
