Certain types of people like to go onto air gun forums world wide & put forward what may seem to some as a Conjecture as to the safety of putting a atmospheric breath hole into a PCP pressure vessel / air reservoir / air tank for the purpose of air pressure out regulation.
I think this is a Hypothesis as a Conjecture is a proposition that is as yet unproven. Conjecture is contrasted by Hypothesis which is a testable statement based on accepted grounds.
This video shows a PCP pressure vessel / air reservoir / air tank, tested to failure & explains why a atmospheric breath hole should not be seen as any form of issue to those whom have regulators fitted.
Atmospheric breath hole sizes should be kept to a minimum & so if have the kit & skill to drill a .2mm hole all the better, but in general manufactures recommend from 1. - 3. & if you haven't got a drill this small then go to you local hardware or search ebay where I would expect you would pay between $0.80c £1. to $1.50c £2.00 max including P&P.
Keep the edge of the atmospheric breath hole 1mm + away from the annular groove which holds the Air Regulator Body Case Seal to avoid leaks.
