There are currently thirteen classified otter species: two live in saltwater and the rest spend a majority of their time around freshwater; however, while sea otters can technically live without land, freshwater otters need land to survive. Here they eat, play, rest, and more! Otters are well known as fun-loving and playful animals who can twist and twirl on river banks and floating debris. These mammals are wonderful to watch, but unfortunately their numbers are all on the decline.

Range: all continents except Australia and Antarctica
Size: 6.6 to nearly 100 pounds (3-45kg)
Diet: fish, crabs and other crustaceans, frogs, and marine invertebrates like sea urchins
Lifespan: 10 years
