This week, managing editor Matt Broderick offers up a solution to make handling and unhooking toothy blues a much easier and safer task, while senior editor Fred Golofaro updates us on the surf fishing action around the Island, which continues to be dominated by bluefish. If you are headed out on the water this week, some big bass are being trolled along the west end of the Island, porgies are easy targets in many areas, weakfish are prowling North Shore harbors, Peconic and Great South bays, fluking continues to improve as water temps climb, and bluefish are keeping rods bent in South Shore and East End bays and inlets.
