For almost 3 hours in drenchingly humid conditions, Evert & Goolagong contest a chess-like tennis match, where points are made as if in discussion, continually altering pace and depth, and utilizing every recalibrated angle, until every shot in the repertoires of these 2 clay court masters had been weaved into this classic confrontation. Sadly for fans of great tennis, this is the 2nd to last match they ever played against one another.
The points were so lengthy, we had to cut out the serves most of the time to show the point's conclusion, and even still, had to break this match overview into 2 separate segments to fit the highlights! With a stiring comeback win from 2-4 down in the 3rd, Chrissie reaches the final (where she takes the title against Jaeger) with a 5-7 6-1 6-4 stunner. Enjoy!
