A few months ago I made a video featuring a young triple jumper from Singapore (check it out on the channel @ [ Ссылка ]). Rather amazingly Zie and his coach Gabe came over to the U.K. for a short visit, so I pulled together this video on a training session we did together. We worked on running as well as jumping technique. Hopefully you’ll be able to see some of the areas that you may need to work on to improve your own jumping. It's often useful to see somebody jumping a similar distance to you so you can check your progress against a peer - it's all well and good getting ideas from Christian Taylor but the skill and condition required to jump 18m is not exactly the same as that's what's required to jump 15.
So ... Zie needs to improve the smoothness of his technique as he snatches his phases on occasions and loses shape. Nevertheless by the end of the session he was getting smother and applying his force more effectively.
I was also able to identify that his drop jumps needed some work. With drop and block (eccentric) jumps he needed to land higher with less knee bend (I saw this resultant hip drop reflected in his running and jumping). so if he works on that too in his conditioning it should also improve his sprinting and jumping.
