The new M89 Drive Lock Rail handguard for AR-15 from Sons of Liberty Gun Works may well redefine the term "rock solid," and Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant shows us why. The aluminum M89 has a full-length M1913 Picatinny rail along the top, with rows of M-LOK® slots in the usual 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions PLUS pairs of M-LOK® slots at 45-degree angles between those standard rows. If you can't find the precisely perfect position for an accessory on this handguard, it doesn't exist!
Anti-rotation tabs keep the M89 from twisting around the long, exceptionally robust stainless steel barrel nut that comes with it (barrel nut wrench included). The exterior of the barrel nut isn't completely straight. There are three angled portions that slope back toward the receiver. These cuts are important because when you torque down the THREE bolts that clamp the handguard to the nut, they will actually pull the 'guard tight against the receiver. The M89 even comes with an anti-rotation pin that will further lock it to the upper IF the front face of your receiver is drilled to accept this type of pin. Remember what we said about redefining "rock solid?"
Bonus: each M89 handguard comes with an M-LOK® quick-detach (QD) sling swivel socket.
Caleb is showing us the 11.5" version of the M89. The ONLY way to get this 11.5" M89 is to either buy an SOLGW rifle with it OR buy the handguard from Brownells.
