Take a trip to the bottom of the Grand Canyon with us! Similar to a previous video, which was filmed running the canyon at night, this video will show you the spectacular looped route from the South Rim to the Colorado River and back up!
My buddy Ray and I parked at the Bright Angel Trailhead, right next to the Bright Angel Lodge. From there, we ran across the South Rim trail over to the South Kaibab Trailhead. Running in February can bring some winter weather, so luckily we prepared with layers and micro-spikes (which were needed!).
We made it down to Ohh Ahh Point with the micro-spikes (aka crampons, aka Yak Trax), and didn't need to put them back on until the final 1-1/2 miles of the run to the top of Bright Angel. The Colorado was flowing and looked as beautiful as ever and the weather conditions couldn't have been better!
