Grow Mountain Apple: 1-Year Update
These are the Mountain Apple plants that I germinated about 1 year ago. I gave the other plants away - this is the only one I kept. The taller one is about 15"/40cm tall, and the smaller one about 12"/30 cm tall. I did not use any special fertilizer, though once a month administered a bit of all-purpose fertilizer. They both have developed nice woody stems. The mountain apple seed is actually a cluster of about 4 individual seeds, and the plants in this pot germinated from the same seed. I don't use any type of pesticides on my plants, so they do have some leaf damage from bugs. They definitely need to be transferred into either a much larger pot, or better yet, to be placed in a large fruit orchard. I wish I had room in my small urban garden to grow these trees, but I don't, so this will most likely be the last update I'll be making.
