Whistler Blackcomb predicted 6-8cm but almost 100cm nuked down during the last 12 hours. This was as close as I’ve ever been to snorkel skiing this season. ULLR answered our prayers and responded hard with the most ridiculous storm we’ve seen at Whistler Blackcomb this entire season. Not only was it one of the deepest days I've ever skied at Whistler, this snow was champagne light. I was lucky to have left the city early as many Sea to Sky drivers were stranded on the highway due to an array of accidents. The locals were so stoked, that by the time I made it through the highway 99 storm vortex I was extremely far back in the queue. I’ve never seen a storm so gnarly. Winds were nasty and it was amazing that patrol and lift operations were able to open up some terrain and keep chairs spinning for as long as they did. The next few days are going to be even better as the alpine opens up. I think it’s safe to say that our season has been saved! Lastly, please be extremely conservative in the Backcountry this weekend, or consider not leaving the resort at all, weak layers are present and this storm snow needs time to bond. Stay Spicy!
