Kyle - "In this part 3 video we move away from the Trap Bar and look at how this fault may appear on a straight bar.
There is a fairly unique fault we see while setting down the deadlift on a straight bar. Sometimes athletes who are trying to stay too upright in the descent because of a misunderstood queue, bad technique and/or possibly trying to protect a tweaky back. Athletes either try to move the bar around their knees because they're squatting straight down on the descent. They may also let the bar slide down their thigh at an angle and make it into something of a ski slope! If you've ever banged the top of your kneecaps repeatedly on high rep deadlifts you may have done this and not even noticed. We highly encourage you to video your deadlift from the side and check to see if you are correctly hinging to put the bar down or if you're simply squatting and changing the bar path.
Please go watch part 1 and 2 of this series, but if you missed them try a tempo on the way down to lock in your mechanics!"
