Question: How to find my inner essence?
Guruji Sri Vast: First we have to recognise that you are a living being, a species, a human species living in this planet. A living being. First you have to come closer to this living being, most of the time we are not close to this living being, we are close to our identity, so it is difficult to come closer to our inner essence. It is a very fine line between what we claim is “me” and what we claim is “not me”. Most of the time what we claim as “me” is our learned cultural identity, which is comfortable. No one will say: “ My inner essence is to wash dishes, cleaning the toilet is my expression”, no one will say that. Most of the time people say: “ Singing, dancing, art, music, that is my expression, that is my essence of my life, creativity”. So if you look into it deeply we can see our cultural identity, our need to express our cultural identity we claim as our essence,. Then we have lot of struggle because this is not really the truth, as a natural living being, our core is totally different, whether you are born in Germany or in India or in Malaysia, as a natural being your core is the same. So to find our inner essence one need to come closer to this living being. The living being which belongs to this planet. Once you enter into this living being, once you are comfortable in this living being, then it is very natural that the core of your life comes through you. For example you are buying a car to go for a journey but you have a lot problems with this car, you enjoy the journey, even you don’t think about the destination you want to go, your first goal is to fix the car. Because without this car you are not moving further, so once you fix the car it is very natural that you go further towards your destination. In the same way, once you come to live comfortable in this living being, this human body, the natural qualities and your essence is expressed through this body. Until that. It is very difficult, so it is very important to see if this “me” is the true “me” or the recognition of the cultural identity.
Question: Can you tell more about your Eco-spiritual message?
Guruji Sri Vast: The message is that we as a human species belong to a particular ecosystem, we are not an individual, we believe we are individuals. Even the human race itself is not a separate race, we are part of the whole nature, there’s flowers, trees, birds, mosquitoes and human, we are one among them...
So it's about my relationship with all the beings, when I am able to develop this relationship my life become so rich because mostly our enemies are humans, our competitors are humans, all our friends and relatives are also humans, everything is all about humans. Think about the world only with the humans, no flowers, no trees, no moon, no ants, no birds, there will be nothing to experience, to live...
the Eco-spirituality is developing this contact or reconnecting one self to ones own home. Mother earth is so beautiful but we don’t have the contact with this. so the message of the teachings is “going home”. Reconnecting, developing this contact, regaining this contact so that we can all live together happily.
