Greasing the Link Belt Excavator - Link Belt 3400 Quantum
This is something very critical to good performance on machine like this, or any machine with a lot of moving parts. I try to grease it every 8 hrs or so. I don't keep a running log, but if I know I'm going to put a solid day on it, I grease it at the start of the day. Otherwise I know I"ll work right up till I have to go home and then be pressed on time and probably wouldn't do it. So I just do it first every day as a matter of discipline.
There are few zerts that I do hit every day that I forgot to mention in the video. When pointing at the top of the stick, there are actually THREE up there. I pointed out two, but didn't mention the third, which is the pin in the boom/stick joint. Also, two other very key zerts are the ones located on your track tensioners to push the idlers out. These don't necessarily have to be hit every day, but it's good practice to check your track tension occasionally, especially if working on softer ground that may put more stress on the tracks. In my case, one of my idlers tends to work in and make the track loose, which I've now made a big mess of. See my video about the stuck track. Proper tension on your tracks is key to optimal operation, and also undercarriage longevity.
