Hi AMFisHers! This AMFisH(LEARN more: www.amfish.ca) fishing vlog is about the differences between flipping jigs and swim jigs.
These two baits do look very similar but serve different purposes for different presentations and actually have some key things about them that are not the same.
Flipping jigs will tend to be made stronger, thicker stronger hooks, nice thick weighted head, bulky skirt and strong weed guard. These are all necessary items for this bait as it is designed to be fished in and around very thick cover. Swimbaits however are made to be used in a similar way to crankbaits, where they are cast out and retrieved back, so they are made with much thinner style hooks, with some flex to them so they are not horsed out of a fishes mouth. They also are usually designed with a more lifelike appearance, painted eyes, painted gills, painted fish head, as these are important to grab a fishes attention as it is being retrieved.
Knowing the differences between these two baits is critical, as it can help prevent losing fish by using the wrong style bait for the wrong style presentation.
Hope you found this vlog helpful!
