Our running shoe reviewer Alex tested and reviewed three of the newest types of training shoes on the market. Because we all know that Nike, Adidas, On, New Balance, Puma, HOKA and others make good sneakers: but what if the best shoes for you came from a brand you've never heard of?

So Alex ran in four new pairs of shoes: the Eliot Runner by Tracksmith, the Dream Chaser by Rabbit, and the R1 and S1 by ultrarunnning upstart Mount to Coast. Here, he shares what he likes and dislikes about these new sneakers, how they compare to traditional trainers like the ASICS Nimbus or the Nike Pegasus, and who, exactly, might benefit from testing out these intriguing, cutting-edge shoes.
