Another Big Half rolls around and has found itself in the middle of my training block for the Berlin Marathon this year.
Training has been going well and I was hoping that I could beat last year's time and break 1:30. I've not been sub 1:30 since 2010. So getting back to this level of fitness after so many years feels great.
Alas, the day was a little warm and I just didn't have it in the legs. Managed to finish in 1:31:25, just over 30 seconds slower than last year. Oh well, some days it works, some days it doesn't. Here's to next year.
A special mention to Roberto who helped keep the pace and I fought to stay with him until about 9 miles in, by which time he felt a little too rich for my tired legs. Pleased to say he broke the 1:30!
As for the event, everything was extremely well organised from start to finish. Lots of space at the end and no crowding or congestion like a couple of years ago. That, plus the sunshine, made it a wonderful day.
Can only apologise in advance for the low quality video in places, it's really hard to keep the Insta360 X3 lenses clean when everything you're wearing is wet!
And I have already entered next year and I thoroughly recommend it to you if you've watched this video and are even slightly interested.
Also, I ran this event for a charity called Jigsaw South East this year, who kindly offered me a place. Please visit their site [ Ссылка ] and give all the support you can.
