NAB Chief Economist Alan Oster says his bank’s forecasts predict “five per cent unemployment by the end of next year” as Australia’s economy continues to ride a fine line in the face of a potential recession.
“That is about 230,000 – it doesn’t mean you get 230,000 people being fired,” Mr Oster told Sky News Australia.
“There will be more people coming into the labour market who can't get a job.”
