Before commenting, this was a USSSA game. USSSA Rule 7.04.C "Whenever a tag play is evident, a runner must slide or seek to avoid contact with the fielder and / or catcher. Malicious contact shall supersede all obstruction penalties. Malicious contact is solely up to the discretion of the Umpire. Penalty: The runner shall be called out and may be ejected from the game at the discretion of the Umpires."
That said, there is no shaming or blaming here. In sports and in life we all mistakes. If we're smart, we use whatever tools we have available to learn from those mistakes. The runner in this video made a mistake "in the heat of battle" that could have been life altering to the catcher. Thankfully that didn't happen and I honestly don't believe the runner meant any harm. Through watching this video with their players and kids, coaches and parents alike are using it as a teaching tool to prevent other young athletes from making the same mistake and/or preventing it from happening to them as catchers. Like any tool, its usefulness is only in how you apply it.
