The Mangrovetree Convention Center, Sanya hosted a fantastic World Series of Boxing (WSB) Group A match between the home Franchise China Dragons and Ukraine Otamans, where an incredibly tense evening was eventually won by the European team 3-2.
This result means that China Dragons are still yet to win a match in their WSB return, while Ukraine Otamans have won all three of their contests this season.
An evening of intense matches began at Light flyweight (49 kg) where Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov representing the Otamans went 2-0 this season after winning every single round on the scorecards against LI Jiahao en route to a 50:45 win across the board.
The tables turned in the second match of the night however, when Bantamweight (56) Diao Jianhao evened up the match, and his Season V WSB record to 1-1 when he sensationally defeated 1-1 Ukrainian Mykola Butsenko.
Jianhao dropped just one round in a career-making performance against Butsenko who has consistently excelled in WSB competition.
China took the lead in the match in the third match, as exciting 1-1 Light welterweight (64 kg) Sairike Tuoliaowutayi won his first match of the season when he completely outclassed Ukraine’s 0-1 Dmytro Grynchenko with a wide points decision victory.
A stoppage occurred in match four, as Uzbekistan’s Hurshidbek Normatov won his second match of the season and evened up the night 2-2 when he stopped Middleweight (75 kg) 0-1 Huang Jiabin in round three.
With everything to play for going heading into the last fight of the night, Heavyweight (91 kg) 2006 European Champion Denys Poyatsyka won the match for Ukraine, and took his own WSB record to 2-0 when China’s 0-1 Li Mingtao was forced to pull out of the fight due to injury in round two.
