Even monsoon weather in Sri Lanka hasn’t dampened the fun and festivity that surrounds the Queen’s Baton on its history-making journey around the Commonwealth.
Following a presidential welcome, the Baton set off by rail aboard a colonial-era train, the historic Viceroy Special. The trip to Galle on the south west coast stopped at Ambalangoda Station and Hikkaduwa Station so that those in rural communities could also experience the Queen’s Baton Relay.
