Scientists have discovered rust on the moon. To be precise, hematite was discovered.
Magnetite can only be made if oxygen and water are essential. Additionally, oxidation occurs when materials lose electrons, but materials on the moon that are directly exposed to the solar wind are always receiving electrons.
So why does rust appear on the moon? Scientists are very excited.

* Hematite: Oxidized mineral made of iron oxide
* The solar wind contains about 75% ionized hydrogen, which acts as a "reducing agent" to supply electrons to matter it encounters.
* Reducing agent: A substance that removes oxygen from another substance or gives electrons to the other substance during a reaction.
* Geomagnetic tail: The part of the geomagnetosphere that extends in the direction opposite to the sun
