Scuba4families visit Eilat, Israel for some wonderful winter diving and at 22c in the water and 25c out, it was the perfect start to the new year ;-) With the majority of sites being easy access shore dives it's great for family divers. At the tip of the Red Sea, Eilat is rimmed by extensive shallow coral shelves that support fringing reef systems and a huge bio-diversity of marine life. From fun-in-the-sun attractions to unique desert activities, Eilat has it all for families of all ages!
We meet a beautiful Broomtail Wrasse (my new favourite fish), numerous Red Sea clown fish (Nemo a plenty), shy Basespot Burrfish, lion fish, eels and much more. We give you tips for diving with children in Israel -rule and regulations must be followed.
Israel’s Coral Reef Nature Reserve is THE PLACE to snorkel and dive in Eilat – and the only underwater national park in the country! Located right in between the Dolphin Reef and the Underwater Observatory, it’s a great place to spend a beach day.
We dive:
The Turkish Boat - sloping sandy bed down to 28m you hit a small boat home to a diverse array of fish and coral, underrated but was one of my favourite dives.
University - great for families, with interesting science projects attracting life of all kinds
Katza (EPAC) -the old Europe to Asia pipeline now an impressive shore dive with dolphins right next door
Moses' Rock - ideal for beginner divers, easy access, no current and shoals of bright orange fairy basslets
