Break tested a 12mm 304 stainless steel captive eye carabiner. I ordered it from a hardware store in China. Seller stated a load bearing of 299kg. We've also tested some 10mm ones too (video coming soon). Thicker rod doesn't always mean better. There are other factors involved (particularly the wiregate and the eye) that affects its overall breaking strength.
