In This Video We Are Covering The Basics Of Salmon Fishing With Spinners, Specifically Choosing Your Rod, Reel, Line, As Well As Salmon Spinners. If you are new to salmon fishing or looking to start fishing for Coho or Chinook Salmon, this is the video for you.
We will start off by covering what it is you are looking for in a salmon fishing rod (fishing rod specs) so you can choose the correct rod length and power that will have you casting spinners and lures most effectively. With our rod selected, we will then cover the types of fishing reels and what it is that we are looking for in a good salmon spinning reel or salmon bait casting reel, again covering the specs on a reel and what they mean when it comes to fishing monofilament, fluorocarbon, and braided line.
Knowing what to look for in a rod and reel, we can now cover the types of line and what is the best line for targeting coho and chinook salmon. Each line has their pros and cons and the conditions as well as the body of water will dictate which may be the bast line to use. I'm a fan of using braided line and you will see that I use braided line on all of my salmon fishing setups.
Lastly we will cover salmon spinners and salmon lures, specifically the sizes, weights and different styles that are always effective when it comes to producing a fish.
Bank fishing for salmon with spinners is a VERY effective technique and can produce fish when all other techniques are failing. Some of the biggest salmon I have caught have all been on spinners!
