Global full meet (SBD) participation (raw/natural and tested) increased by +28% in the 2023 season. The group’s average age of the participating athletes in 2023, stood at 23, with a median age of 20.5 (a slight decline by a margin of -0.5), in direct parallel to 2022 average age of 24 - with a median age of 21.
Individually, the average squat amount stood at 157.54kg (347.32lbs), which equates to a one-year increment of +1.38%, alongside a median of 160kg (352.74lbs), which in parallel, equates to a +1.59% growth; with 52% of athletes squatting above the median of 160kg (352.74). The heaviest squat stood at 275.5kg (607.37lbs), a +1.66% increment, if compared with 2022 heaviest squat of 271kg (597.45lbs).
The average weight class’ benchpress stood at 100.87kg (222.38 lbs), which represents a slight decline of -0.21%. However, the group’s median stood at 100kg (220.46 lbs), which is identical to the 2022 season’s median bench of 100kg (220.46 lbs). The group’s heaviest benchpress stood at 175kg (385.81lbs), which in effect, is a comparative decline of -13.58%, if compared with the 2022 season’s heaviest benchpress of 202.5kg (446.44lbs).
The average deadlift in 2023 stood at 190.73kg (420.49lbs), which is a relative increase of +0.80%, in comparison to the 2022 season average deadlift of 189.22kg (417.16lbs). On the other hand, the group’s median deadlift stood at 192.5kg (424.39 lbs), an increment of +1.32%. For 2023, the singular heaviest deadlift of the group stood at 325kg (716.50lbs), which equates to an increment of +2.20%; in 2022, the group’s heaviest deadlift stood at 318kg (701.07lbs).
The highest recorded group total stood at 745.5kg (1643.55 lbs), which is essentially a +4.27% increment, in comparison to 2022 highest recorded season total of 715kg (1576.31kg). The average total between 2022-2023 stood at 450.97kg (994.22 lbs), an increment of +0.71%, in parallel to the 2022 season average total of 447.77kg (987.16 lbs). Whilst, comparatively, the median total in 2023 stood at 455kg (1003.1 lbs), a positive increase of +0.52%, as the 2022 median total stood at 452.5kg (997.59 lbs).

What is an KPI score?
Simply put, a KPI (Key Performance Indicator) score, which as being historically implemented within other fields, fundamentally tracks measurable performance/s. However, RPE1’s KPI score primarily focuses, at current, on the individual athlete/s comprehensive performance/s, where in which, variables such as: the amount of participated meet/s; total; squat, bench and deadlift amount; which are effectively compared both individually (i.e, athlete’s past performance/s) and systematically as a group (i.e., all recorded historic performances within the respective weight class). Including, the athlete’s success rates (reliability) pertaining to all three individual disciplines (squat, benchpress and deadlift) are systematically weighed, which in effect, ultimately, provides an ascribe KPI (Key Performance Indicator) score for the athlete/s. Such score can be taken as a significant indicator of the athlete/s performance throughout the season and/or meet performance. For example, a score of 100% means the athlete is individually performing at his/her most optimal. At current, the margin of error stands at ±10%.
