An incredible day with two Armageddons!
In the match between Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Parham Maghsoodloo, it seemed like smooth sailing for Nodirbek after he won game one with the black pieces, but Parham, resorting to the Hippo in game two, out calculated Nodirbek and won! Nodirbek won the ensuing Armageddon, and Parham was felted. In the next match-up between Vladimir Kramnik and Gukesh, game one was a rather quiet affair: Gukesh held his nerves better, and won, but was lost in the return game after about ten moves after blundering a two-move tactic! In Armageddon, Gukesh kept making the most of his bad position, and with a push on the clock, Kramnik lost control and the game. Gukesh has already punched his ticket for the final AND the Grand Finale in September in Berlin! Shots from the playing hall, some exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, and more!
